Parent Coffee Afternoon

Today we welcomed many of our parents (and pre-school children) to our coffee afternoon in our fabulous dining room. It was lovely to mingle with parents and to hear so many positive comments particularly about the number of clubs that children can attend and the information available on the website. Our junior choir the Sneyd Sensations also came along and entertained us which rounded off the afternoon perfectly. We were all very proud of them.

Nursery Family Learning

Back by popular demand, our Family Learning sessions began in school today, with a fantastic Rhyme time Session for Nursery pupils and parents. the children had great fun - and so did the mums, dads, nans and grandads that came along. We have more family learning sessions coming up in the near future. Look out for the letters in your child's pack.

Guess Who Came To School Today!

Some strange creatures appeared in school today. First of all, the children in Construction Club worked together to create this fabulous robot. Fortunately he looks like quite a friendly robot.

During the afternoon it started to get rather warm in my office. When I wandered into the foyer, I found our fabulous fire breathing Chinese dragon was finally going up on display. He looks rather fierce; perhaps we all need to make sure we are on our best behaviour!

Raising money for Sign2Sing

Today the children have brought 50p to buy a cake as we raise money for Sign2Sing. We have a number of hearing impaired children in school and so this is an annual event which is very close to our hearts. The staff have all been baking (or buying for those of us who are culinary-challenged) cakes so that every child has the opportunity to participate.

Chinese Dragon

Today was the first day that I saw our Chinese dragon all assembled. Every child in the school has contributed to the dragon by making one of the scales on its body. There are 527 scales altogether. It looks pretty fearsome I think.

Construction Club Winners

I was very excited to see who was going to be a winner in Mr Hyder's Construction Club competition last week. The competition was to build the tallest structure and in the time, they built a tower which was a whopping 67cm high.

Congratulations got to Scarlet Whent and Tia Grossthall.

Well done, girls!

In the previous week, the winner was Ben Fallows. Here is his winning model.

Chinese New Year Day

On Friday 27th January, Sneyd Green Primary School celebrated the Year of the Rooster. We dressed in Chinese clothes or in red and yellow. We sampled Chinese food, made hats, dragons, lions and fans. We sang songs in Chinese and made lucky money envelopes.

We had the most fantastic day!

We would like to wish all of our pupils with family and friends in China a wonderful New Year.

Chinese New Year fun in Nursery - 25.1.17

I visited the Nursery children to find out about their learning this week which has been all about Chinese New Year. It was great fun. The children have been food tasting (yum yum), performing some Chinese dances, and making Chinese lanterns and drums. This afternoon, the children were making body parts and scales for a whole school Chinese Dragon which will involve a small piece of artwork from every child in the school.

I cannot wait for our dress up day on Friday. I hope that there is more food tasting going on.

Y5 Police cadets - 20.1.17

Today I had the great privilege of joining the Y5 police cadets whilst they worked with PCSO Justine. They were coming up with some wonderful responses to her questions and I was amazed at Mackenzie who had learnt the special alphabet code. It is great to see such enthusiasm particularly as they give up half an hour of their lunchtime to participate in the activity. They also look great in their t shirts and caps. The children were all Foxtrot Alpha Bravo!

I am so proud of you all. Well done.

FS1 Fun Maths Session - 17.1.17

This morning over 20 parents joined us for a fun maths session in Nursery. The staff had set up lots of activities that parents and children could share together reinforcing basic number skills. It was lovely to see so many parents working alongside their children.

We are looking forward to the other maths sessions coming up this week and next week.
