Governors

Our Governing Body has 12 members and includes Staff governors, parent governors and community governors. We have 4 main committees as follows:

  • Challenge Committee - this committee interrogates performance data and holds leaders to account for results and progress.
  • Finance and HR Committee - this committee ensures that the schools finances are used correctly and achieve value for money.
  • Pupil Behaviour and welfare Committee - this committee ensures that the school is complaint with safeguarding proceudres and also monitors all aspects of behaviour, attendance and welfare of pupils.
  • Learning and Achievement - this committee looks at the curriculum of the school and ensures that it meets the needs of our pupils.

The school is currently in a soft federation with the College Academies Trust which includes our main feeder high school Excel Academy, Discovery Academy, Maple Court Academy and Stoke-on-Trent College.

Mr D Walley

Mr N Steventon

Vice Chair of Governor

Mr Walley is a retired headteacher of a local primary school with many years experience in leading primary schools and all aspects of school improvement. He has a keen interest in photography which contributes to school life.

 

 

Mr Steventon has had many roles in his professional and personal life including serving on the Young Offenders panel and being a lay member of the National Working Party revising the publication on Drug Misuse and Dependance.

 

     
Mrs R Lee   Mr J Hyder
Mrs Lee has been Headteacher at the school for 14 years. She is also an independent governor of Excel Academy and is a seconded member of the College Academies Trust. She has extensive experience in all aspects of school improvement and has also been a part of two executive boards supporting schools in special measures. She has also worked with the governors to secure significant improvements to the school buildings and to transform the finances of the school to improve outcomes for all pupils. She is also a founding member of the Compass Network group of schools.  

Mr Hyder has been Deputy Headeacher at the school since 2004. In that time he has worked with staff to transform learning and teaching to its current high standards. His passion and expertise for maths make this a subject in which our pupils excel at Sneyd Green. He has also worked as a leading maths teacher and as a Teaching and Learning Consultant across Stoke-on-Trent and supported the development of other teachers through delivering sessions at Keele University.       

 

                      

     
Mr N Keeling   Mr J Adams
Mr Keeling is a Parent Governor of the school. He is the parent of 4 children, 3 of whom are pupils at Sneyd Green. He lives in the local community and is an active member of St Andrew's Church. In his professional life he is the Assistant Director for Mathematics at St Peter’s Academy in Fenton. This involves him in leading the Mathematics department; implementing whole school maths initiatives; delivering staff training; setting up and running regional mathematics competitions through UKMT and Keele University; involvement in maths networks; delivering training to, and mentoring trainee and newly qualified teachers. Mr Keeling has proven expertise in school improvement and is a key member of the Challenge Committee.

Mrs A Evans-Hall

  Mrs J Steele
Mrs Evans-Hall is a Parent Governor of the school. She has three children at Sneyd Green Primary School, Mrs Evans-Hall is active in the local community and is the Secretary of the Sneyd Green Residents Association. She has also been a member of the school PTFA. Mrs Evans-Hall is a former English and Maths tutor and holds a PGCE with a specialism in English.    
     
Mrs Z Wiley    
Mrs Wiley is a staff governor. She has three children, one of whom attends Sneyd Green Primary School. She has been a member of staff for over two years. Mrs Wiley currently supports children in Year 5 and is particularly skilled at improving the attainment and progress of pupils in English and Mathematics. Mrs Wiley was formerly President of Tunstall Probus.
