Assessment

Assessment

Children across the school are assessed regularly in school against the Early Years Foundation Stage milestones (Nursery and Reception) and against the National Curriculum expectations (year 1 to Year 6).

FS1 (Nursery) and FS2 (Reception)

Children are assessed against 17 strands of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. By the end of Nursery, we expect children to be working at 40-60 months emerging. Children are assessed against the same strands in Reception and are expected to achieve the Early Learning Goal at AN expected standard. Whilst children are in Foundation Stage, assessment information is gathered Wwhen children are working both with an adult and whilst leaning independently.

KS1 (Y1 and Y2) and KS2 (Y3, Y4, Y5, Y6)

Children move onto the national curriculum expectations from Year 1 onwards. Children are taught the curriculum for their particular year group and once they have understood the curriculum content and display the required skills expected, they move onto a mastery curriculum until the end of the year. The school uses a combination of standardised tests, school based tests and Assertive Mentoring assessments to assess attainment and progress.

Assessments in reading, writing and mathematics are reported to parents at the end of each term.
